North Korea – my travel experience
June 12th, 2010 — english, Personal, Photos, Travel
“A country that, takes care of all people, gives work to everybody, where health care doesn’t cost you anything…” This is what I heard from pro-Fidel Cubans some years ago while traveling to Cuba. Would I hear this kind of comments in North Korea also I wondered? How would it compare to the GDR (Eastern Germany) that I witnessed over 20 years ago? How do people live in North Korea? What are your restrictions traveling through North Korea, etc…
As little information is available about North Korea, I try to summarize all information that I think could be of help for anybody traveling to North Korea or being interested about traveling there.
The information gathered here I did get personally from 6 different people, while I was traveling in North Korea. I won’t will quote persons individually because I don’t want anybody getting in trouble sharing something with me.
I will embed some pictures from my trip, to get even better ones I highly recommend you to visit this site:
Berlin Restaurant Challenge
January 11th, 2010 — english, Personal
My good friend Hendrik left me a informative magazine with insider restaurant tipps. The perfect present, thanks Hendrik. So this weekend I checked all the tips and marked my personal favourites in a little map to make sure I can find them easily (it’s so fast to make these maps by the way…)
Eating is only fun if you eat with good friends. So I thought of this challenge: contact five friends, with whom I hadn’t had contact for five months, convince them to have dinner with me within the next five weeks to get back in touch… Let’s see if I can make it.
In any case, here are the restaurants I want to check out in the upcomings months in Berlin…

Do you know any of these?
PS: I checked out Kimchi Princess yesterday, and it was awesome!

A quick video summary of 2009:
Sins of my father
December 27th, 2009 — Colombia, english, Movies
Living in Medellin, I always wondered. What happened to the relatives of Pablo Escobar? After seeing “Sins of my father” all questions were answered.
Living in Medellin, your are confronted with the dark past of the city. Family, friends & clients ask a lot about the safety in Medellin and about the drug cartel. (In case you haven’t heard my answer: Medellin has totally transformed and is one of the nicest city to live in in South America).
The history of the drug cartel always fascinated me, so I visited Hacienda Napoles, the “Catedral”, the graveyard of Escobar and the place where he was murdered. If your want to jump back into old times, you can watch this interview of Pablo Escobars photographer:
But the movie “Sins of my father” is not just about the past, but the present. How is it like to be the son of one of the most evil persons in history? What does his son feel for the crimes committed by his father? (something similar German people of my age are confronted also corning crimes of our grandfathers).
It’s a fascinating story, worthwhile to see:
