Before we meet
How to work with me
I like conversations that lead somewhere.
The best meetings begin with a little preparation, clear intent and enough honesty to say what is really going on. This is a short guide to how I tend to work, decide and collaborate.
Start with the point
Before we meet, it helps to know the question we are trying to answer. What decision is needed? What would make the conversation useful? What is already known, and what is still uncertain?
A short note is often enough. It gives everyone a starting point and makes more room for the important part: thinking together.
Bring the truth early
I value directness. Good news is easy to share, but difficult facts are usually more useful. If something is stuck, unclear or not working, I would rather hear it early. That is not about blame. It is how we create the option to improve it.
Decide, then move
Not every discussion needs a perfect answer. Many decisions are reversible. In those cases, I prefer a clear owner, a sensible next step and a moment to review what we learned.
For bigger decisions, I care about the reasoning: the customer, the people involved, the risks and the long-term effect. Speed matters, but so does knowing when to slow down.
Ownership matters
I enjoy working with people who take responsibility for an outcome, not only a task. That means being clear about what you own, asking for help when it is useful and making a recommendation rather than only presenting a problem. Good ownership creates freedom for everyone else.
Feedback is part of the work
Feedback should be specific, timely and useful. I try to give it directly and expect the same in return. The point is not to win an argument. It is to make the work, the decision or the relationship better.
Meetings should earn their place
A meeting is worthwhile when it creates clarity, commitment or a better decision. I prefer fewer people, a clear purpose and a short written follow-up: what was decided, who owns the next step and when we will look at it again.
Keep it human
Work can be serious without becoming heavy. Curiosity, humour and generosity make difficult work more sustainable. I care about high standards, but I also care about creating an environment where people can speak openly, learn quickly and enjoy building something together.
Languages
I work in English, German and Spanish. If we are meeting for the first time, bring the real question. We can take it from there.
